MUN CLUB
At our school it is now possible for MYP1 to DP2 students to be a part of Model United Nations, by joining the MUN Club every Wednesday. The MUN is an educational simulation in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations.
The United Nations is one of the most important organizations worldwide, it was established in 1945 after the Second World War as an intergovernmental organization. It’s goal is to maintain international security while achieving international collaboration. They do so by protecting human rights, delivering humanitarian aid, promoting sustainable development and upholding international law. As of today, there are 193 member states in comparison to the 51 initial countries. All of them have a chance to speak their voice during the General Assembly which is one of the 6 main organs of the UN. This assembly is held every year in New York City where a wide range of international issues are discussed by all countries.
During the H-Farm MUN club a group of students will be working and cooperating in order to prepare and participate in a simulation of the General Assembly. Each group of students will be assigned a country which they will have to represent in the conference.
All students will have an opportunity to develop their leadership, research and writing skills during the preparation for the Assembly whilst using their problem solving, debating and public speaking skills at the actual event. Not only will one be able to grow into a more open minded and globally aware student but will also have the opportunity to travel around the world, but due to COVID especially within Europe.
This is a great experience as you will meet and work with different students from the school and have the chance to create bonds when meeting international students at the conferences. Participating in this club is valuable for university applications as well as increasing awareness on real life discussion and issues.
If you are interested in joining this CLUB you can contact Ms. Murphy (daniela.murphy@h-is.com) and meet in the D&T Room on Wednesday at 13:30.
DIGITAL WORKSHOP FOR ANGELINI ACADEMY’S FAMILIES
A series of online sessions to bring children closer to technology
With our Sparx Team, we organise digital workshops, hackathons, events for families, and other tech experiences - in the workplace too - to encourage children and young people to build a positive relationship with technology while having fun.
For Angelini Academy, Angelini group’s corporate academy, we designed 8 online meetings both in Italian and English in March and April 2021. With this initiative, Angelini supported its employees through educational and fun activities during the COVID-19 school closure period.
The Angelini Academy is the corporate Academy, which is supported by Angelini Holding it offers everyone working in Angelini a series of top-quality tools, programmes, and training activities thanks to the collaborations with partners of international importance. There are therefore three training areas, customised depending on the abilities that require smoothing and on specific professional development paths.
Children and teenagers between 8 and 14 years old experimented using coding and pixel art through Minecraft and digital storytelling from Apple apps which improved their communication, collaboration, and problem solving skills.
The school is trying to bring children to learn technology applications, this is what the event of the workshop is basing on. It’s a service for the children to make them learn about how technology works in general. This event is going to bring the children to have a wide range of knowledge on the technology factor.
With the help of Angelini Academy, the school event can teach children the culture of technological innovation. Angelini pursues a process of Open Innovation through partnerships, schools, incubators, and system integrators, in order to improve digital skills and foster the ability to create innovative projects.
